This is a snow-looking painting. Winter in Quebec is long but where I live in the country, it is pretty. Days are short in the winter months, so sunlight is especially appreciated during this otherwise dark time, when the shadows play upon the snow, creating shapes that emerge and disappear with the light. There is a stillness that comes with the white blanket of snow, that quiets my soul. I'm nostalgic for a time when my mother would talk to me about the beauty of the quiet snowfall.
