Funchal left a strong impression on me. Wandering through its winding streets, with sudden views opening onto the ocean, felt both grounding and uplifting. In this painting, the yellows and greens reflect the lushness of the island—the flowering trees, the gardens spilling over stone walls, and the way nature seems to insist on being present everywhere.
