Blues and greens form the foundation of this painting, bringing to mind water, vegetation and the natural world. Across the surface, patterned white lines move over the colour, creating a kind of visual rhythm. They feel at once decorative and purposeful, as though they are recording something I have seen or felt.
I kept thinking about the Indigenous artworks that stayed with me after our travels through Australia and Africa—the way artists have used repeated patterns and simplified forms to create a stylized language drawn from the world around them. I’m interested in that impulse: taking what we see in nature and transforming it into marks that feel instinctive and human.
The title, Making Things Right, feels connected to that process. There is something calming about arranging marks, shapes and colour until they begin to feel as though they belong together.
