Between Home and Elsewhere came from a moment of transition. After letting go of our home in Sarasota and settling into a small pied-à-terre in Montreal, while still holding onto our place in Gore as a kind of creative refuge, life has felt fragmented—spread across places, intentions, and possibilities. This diptych reflects that in its structure and movement: houses appear alongside winding paths, oversized pots of stylized flowers, and small connecting elements that quietly guide the eye from one shape to another.
The softer palette—grey blues, nurturing pinks, and layered off-whites—mirrors my state of mind while making this work. There’s uncertainty here, but also lightness and care. Small details reveal themselves slowly: a bird, a dog, a ladder bridging spaces. The brushstrokes move with intention, sometimes busy, sometimes calm, holding space for a feeling many of us know well—the search for home while standing in between.
