Hyatt Centric Buckhead Atlanta
Commissioned artworks for guestrooms and public spaces
Hyatt Centric hotels are known for drawing inspiration from the neighborhoods they call home—bringing local culture and creativity into the guest experience. When their Buckhead Atlanta location was under construction, the design team reached out to include artwork that would quietly echo that sense of place.
They commissioned a long, horizontal painting of mine that was then reproduced in three segments—each one installed in the back wall of a different elevator cab. The idea was to make each ride a little different from the last, adding an unexpected moment of visual interest to a daily transition. The color palette we settled on was warm and earthy—muted browns, soft oranges, and deep blues—chosen to complement the hotel’s interiors while also offering something calming and grounded. It’s a quiet piece of the overall design, but it carries the kind of presence that encourages a second look.
Projects like this are a reminder that art doesn’t always need a spotlight to have impact. Sometimes it’s the subtle moments—like stepping into an elevator—that stay with people.
