Life, much like art, often takes us through unexpected turns and hues. My journey from the structured world of graphic design to the liberating realm of abstract art is a tale of transformation, resilience, and discovery.

As a graphic designer in Montreal's vibrant web design industry, I thrived in a world of pixels and deadlines. The bustling head office of a large marketing firm was my canvas, where creativity met commerce. But as it happens in the corporate world, changes came - our small firm was absorbed, and eventually, I found myself outside those familiar walls, package in hand, heart heavy.

In those moments of uncertainty, the familiar comfort of my team's camaraderie felt like a lost artwork. Yet, as an artist at heart, I knew that every blank canvas holds potential. It was time to pick up a different set of tools - not the mouse and keyboard, but brushes and acrylic paints.

The leap into abstract art

Why not market myself, I thought, as I had helped countless others? With this newfound resolve, I embarked on a journey into the uncharted territory of abstract art. This was no mere change of profession; it was a profound shift in expression. Abstract art allowed me to communicate in colors and forms, transcending the limitations of conventional design.

My first strokes were cautious, yet filled with an eagerness to explore. I found solace in the swirls of paint, the freedom of each brushstroke. Gradually, what started as an experiment evolved into a passionate pursuit.

The universe has a way of aligning with our aspirations. My work, a blend of passion and perseverance, caught the eye of Anthropologie, a milestone that marked the beginning of an exciting collaboration. This partnership not only validated my art but also broadened my horizon, connecting my work with a wider audience.

Beyond this, my art started finding its way into galleries, each exhibition a step further in my journey. The transition from a digital screen to gallery walls was surreal. Seeing my abstract creations resonate with others has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my career.

Support and growth

Behind every artist is a support system, and I've been fortunate to have the unwavering support of my husband. Post his own career milestone of selling his company, he chose to invest his time and energy in my artistic endeavor. His belief in me has been a cornerstone in my journey, transforming me from a project into a thriving artist.
