There’s something deeply satisfying about thick paint. In my VAVOOM! collection, I embraced that sensation completely. This series is all about abundance—bold colors pulled generously across the canvas, smooth brushmarks brimming with energy. While the paint isn't quite as thick as impasto, it has a juicy, almost chewy presence that invites you to get closer and take in the details.
I remember deliberately reaching for intensity when I began these works. I wasn’t after delicacy. I was going for gluttony—a celebration of too much, in the best possible way. Color on top of color, layers pushed and pulled by dynamic brushwork. These strokes create wide, textured paths of movement, while letting small ribbons of blended color peek through. It’s playful, a little chaotic, and totally unapologetic.
From a distance, the pieces hold a certain balance, but the real excitement lives in the details. Step in closer and you’ll find unexpected harmonies: coral meeting ochre, sky blue dragged through lemon yellow, flashes of pink holding space beside earthier tones. Each section tells a different part of the story.
VAVOOM! is currently being featured for the month of June, and it feels right. June is a time of brightness, growth, and momentum—much like these paintings. I hope they bring a little sense of joy, of fullness, to your day.
